Brothers, Sisters, and Mothers
Matthew 12:46-50
While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.” But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
Few relationships are closer than family; yet Jesus invites us to enjoy this close relationship with Him. How do we have that relationship? We must do the will of the heavenly Father.
Most humans are reluctant to give control of their lives over to God. Maybe our fears sound like this: 'What is God asks me to do something hard? Or something I don't want to do? What if He asks me to go somewhere I don't want to go?'
If this mirrors your thoughts, but you want to be close to Jesus, then begin by praying this simple prayer: "Lord, make me willing to be willing to do Your will."
